MNX Global Logistics was recently recognized by Blood Centers of America (BCA) for exceptional efforts and partnership in helping to overcome unique challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic posed to the blood and plasma donation supply chain.
According to a Press Release by BCA, “recipients the Critical Infusion Award stood out for going above and beyond to solve logistics, testing and equipment supply challenges. Thanks to these suppliers, BCA was able to help facilitate/coordinate collections and help ensure that COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) was available for use in treating patients with the virus —while helping to maintain a secure and stable supply of blood and plasma for hospitals.”
Aloha, we have a problem!
When airlines began to cancel flights to and from the Hawaiian Islands in April 2020 due to the collapse in travel demand, the Blood Bank of Hawaii (BBH) faced an unthinkable challenge. There were no testing facilities available on the islands to conduct the required viral marker testing, and samples needed to be flown to the mainland.
Read how MNX helped BBH ship these extremely time-sensitive samples to a lab in Arizona, and ensured the samples were protected and delivered on time.
Getting Convalescent Plasma to COVID-19 Patients
In June 2020, as virus hot spots began appearing around the country, BCA was hard at work finding and gathering donations of convalescent plasma for hospitals all over the U.S.
Not only do these plasmas need to be shipped on dry-ice, but many pick-ups occur in the early hours from 2:00 am to 3:00 am, and they must be delivered within 24 hours. Read how MNX supported BCA in this effort by bolstering our network to help deliver this critical therapy.
